Given the
concerns regarding the depletion
of the nation's natural gas reserves, what are
your views on the importation of gas as suggested
by the South Trinidad Chamber of Industry and Commerce?
Paul Quesnel,
president of the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers
Association
If
it becomes necessary for us to import natural gas
from Venezuela, or any other country, to run our
mega energy projects, we should ensure that we will
be able to control the price over a long period.
But while we are thinking about buying from external
sources, we should be stepping up our exploration
programme.
Garvin Seemungal,
president of the Greater Chaguanas Chamber of Commerce
One
dry well does not mean that our gas reserves have
run out. We have information that there are vast
gas reserves between Trinidad and Venezuela. What
we need to do now is to look at joint ventures between
the two countries to maximise our gas production.
