It's official.
President Bharrat Jagdeo's incumbent
People's Progressive Party/Civic (PPPC) is back
in government for a fourth consecutive term.
This confirmation has come from
he Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), sole authority
for conducting elections and which is expected to
publicly declare the certified results today.
Based on the final preliminary results
received from the estimated 2,000 polling divisions,
the PPPC is expected to have a minimum of 34 seats
in the 65-member National Assembly.
The
main opposition party, People's National Congress
Reform-One Guyana (PNCR-1G), could end up with a
minimum of 24, the new Alliance for Change five,
with the two remaining seats likely to be shared
by the small Justice for All Party (JFAP) and The
United Force (TUF).
