Minister in the Ministry of Finance
Conrad Enill has assured that falling oil prices
will not affect the completion of government’s
2005/2006 budget.
Enill said the price of crude on
which the budget will be based has already been
determined.
He said with the formula being used
by the Government the present decline in petroleum
prices will not have an effect.
He
said: “Why should it? We have already said
we will base the oil price on a ten-year average
and as a result any fluctuation of the price at
this time will not affect the planning price we
come up with.”
Speaking with the Guardian from
Singapore where he is attending meetings of the
World Bank and the International Monetary Fund,
Enill said with the formula adopted by the Government
high and low prices would be thrown out.
Oil
prices have declined by US$10 over the last three
weeks. (CW).
