Minister
of Energy and Energy Industries and Public Administration
Dr Lenny Saith left T&T yesterday as the head
of a seven-member delegation bound for the People’s
Republic of China.
The visit follows a long-standing invitation to
the Prime Minister of T&T from the People’s
Republic of China.
The
delegation includes head of the Public Service Sandra
Marchack and Ken Julien, chairman of the National
Gas Task Force.
The
team also includes chairman of bpTT Robert Riley
and Calder Hart, executive chairman of Udecott.
“This
invitation was again extended during the official
visit of the vice-president of the People’s
Republic of China to T&T in January 2005, at
which time the Prime Minister gave a commitment
to pay an official visit to China at a time convenient
to both parties,” the Ministry of Public Administration
stated in a release.
During
the visit, Saith and his delegation are expected
to pursue initiatives in areas of mutual interest
and co-operation.
These
include energy, telecommunications, finance, construction
and agriculture.
After
visiting China, Saith, Julien and Hart are expected
to go on to Malaysia to hold talks with the state-owned
oil company and business leaders from the energy,
construction and information technology industries.
The
other members of the delegation are expected to
return to T&T next week.
