The Point Fortin constituency of the Congress of
the People will host an open/public forum on the
construction of aluminium smelters in Trinidad and
Tobago in Chatham on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
The
objectives of the forum are to:
1.
Ensure that the public is fully apprised of all
information concerning the issues related to smelter
development and its impact on the lives of the people.
2.
To shape the agenda issues of the people of Trinidad
and Tobago.
3.
To allow citizens to participate in the discussion
of a development strategy for Trinidad and Tobago.
4.
To allow citizens to express their views in an environment
free from fear, threats, intimidation, and insults,
and to continue the discussion on community rights,
5.
To discuss the economics of the proposed construction
of three aluminium smelters in Trinidad and Tobago.
Political
Leader of the Congress, Winston Dookeran, has been
invited to attend the forum to share his views from
an economic perspective.
He
will be joined by leading experts in energy, agriculture,
economics, and health, as the people of the peninsula
provide an opportunity for fellow citizens to discuss
these matters.
The
public is invited to attend.
