South
Trinidad Chamber of Industry and Commerce recently
received a donation of $50,178 from Petrotrin to
assist in their "Safe to Work in Trinidad and
Tobago" programme.
The
project which will be implemented over the next
three years seeks to ensure that small service companies
in the energy sector are equipped and able to meet
the health, safety and environmental requirements
of major oil gas operators.
"This
is to be achieved by developing uniform HSE standards
for the energy sector and assisting smaller service
companies in meeting and becoming certified to the
new standards so that they are in a better position
to pre-qualify for energy contracts," Petrotrin
said in a statement.
Arnold
Corneal, Petrotrin's manager communication services
told Business Express that the donation was in keeping
with the company's social responsibility as a large
company operating in several environments.
"We
have donated very significant amounts of money to
various groups in the development of culture, arts,
sports and education, and the donation to the Chamber
is just one of several initiatives," he said.
STCIC's
coordinator for the project, Natalie Reece- Sankar
said.
