A Canadian company was today given permission to
produce 500 barrels of oil per day from a South
Erin, Trinidad site (left), according to a release.
The
company, Maxim Resources Inc. is headquartered in
Vancouver, Canada, and sees the potential for 10
development wells.
Maxim
is quoted on the Toronto Stock Exchange and is one
of a new breed of Canadian oil companies exploring
opportunities outside of Canada.
The
following is Maxim's release.
Maxim
Resources Inc. is pleased to announce that the South
Erin Trinidad project has been granted permission
from the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries,
Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and Petrotrin, Petroleum
Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited to produce
Erin 98 Well (ER98) not exceeding 500 BOPD. The
production rate is based on the Environmental (EMA)
requirement of maximum of 500 BBLS temporary storage
capacity.
This
top zone, the lower Forest A was brought into production
on Saturday November 18, 2006. The well has been
choked back to a production rate of +/- 200 BOPD.
The crude is being transported 7 days a week to
a designated storage tank at Petrotrin's point of
sale facility at Point Fortin.
The
Geologist for the South Erin project has identified
10 development wells to exploit the reserves in
place. In addition, several exploratory prospects
have been identified as future drilling targets.
