Chief executive of the BP Group, Lord Browne of
Madingley, met with Prime Minister Patrick Manning
yesterday to discuss BP Trinidad and Tobago's (BPTT)
exploration programme in the country.
In
a statement yesterday from the Office of the Prime
Minister, it was reported that Browne, accompanied
by BP executive vice-president Andy Inglis and chairman
and CEO of BPTT Robert Riley, paid a courtesy call
on Manning at his Whitehall Office.
The
wide-ranging discussions lasted approximately 45
minutes and dealt specifically with BPTT's exploration
programme and particularly the IBIS well, which
did not test the prospect and the need for further
exploration activity.
At
the meeting, Manning also raised the question of
alternative energy sources.
The
release noted that general exchanges included collaboration
between BP and the Government of Trinidad and Tobago
in furthering investment opportunities locally "with
the attendant benefits to be derived there-from".
