Nine workers on an offshore oil production platform
were injured when a pipeline ruptured yesterday.
The men were working on Platform
22 in the Soldado North oilfield, three miles off
Trinidad's south west peninsular it was learned.
The workers are said to be employed
with Trinmar, a subsidiary of State-owned Petrotrin.
The company's communications officer, Arnold Corneal,
could not be reached last night.
The incident occurred around 2 p.m.,
while the men worked on a two-inch gas line pressured
to 2,500 pounds per square inch (PSI), a police
report said.
They were treated at the Pt Fortin
District Hospital. Their injuries are not considered
life-threatening, the Express was told.

Oilfields Workers' Trade Union's first vice-president,
Ancel Roget, said the union was investigating the
incident last night, but had few details on what
