Prime Minister Patrick Manning is scheduled to
lead a delegation to Margarita, Venezuela next
week to attend an energy summit of South American
countries.
Foreign Affairs Minister Arnold Piggott announced
Manning's planned trip during yesterday's post-Cabinet
news conference at Whitehall, Port of Spain.
The summit will be held for the first time on
April 16 and 17, and Manning will be attending
the event.
"The honourable Prime Minister will be going
there, having been approved by Cabinet today to
attend the Energy Summit of the Heads of State
and Government of the South American nations," Piggott
said.
He said Manning was invited to attend the summit
by Venezuela President Hugo Chavez during their
meeting in Caracas on March 20 and also by way
of a diplomatic note.
