The
Neal & Massy Foundation recently lent
charitable support to fourteen non-governmental
organisations (NGOs).
Last year, the foundation made the decision to
expand its reach and added these fourteen NGOs
to its list of recipients.
Gaston
Aguilera, chairman of the foundation said: “NGOs
have for decades played a critical intervention
role in Trinidad and Tobago.
“There are many credible, well-run NGOs
in our country. They form a vibrant civic group
that projects the best attributes of our people—their
generosity, their compassion and their humanity.
“The
volunteers who make-up these organisations serve
those most marginalised as a result of individual
poverty and the lack of public social services.”
“We
hope that our contribution will assist in the
development of these organisations, which
provide many invaluable services to the national
community.”
Each
donation of twelve thousand dollars, was awarded
to NGO representatives during a brief presentation
at the offices of Neal & Massy Holdings Limited,
Park Street, Port of Spain.
NGOs
represented at the presentation included the
Tobago Council for the Handicapped; the Trinidad
and Tobago Coalition Against Domestic Violence
and the Alzheimer’s Association of Trinidad
and Tobago.
In response to the contribution, all recipients
expressed their appreciation and indicated ways
in which the funds would be used to the furtherance
of their specific social development agendas.
