VENEZUELAN AUTHORITIES have reportedly said that
this country may be responsible for an oil spill
that has affected nine beaches off the Venezuelan
coast.
As of Saturday last, there were 115 technicians
dispatched to the affected areas who were aiding
in emergency clean up measures as 16 kilometres
had been covered with heavy crude slick.
Thus far, 75 percent of the spill has been cleaned,
Venezuelan officials reported. The environmental
impact had not yet been determined as of yesterday
nor is it known if the leak came from drilling
platforms in the sea between Trinidad and Venezuela.
