THE SECOND of two National Gas Company public
consultations will come off today at the Point
Fortin Civic Centre at 5.30 pm.
This, as it pursues its application for a Certificate
of Environmental Clearance (CEC) in accordance
with the Environmental Management Act 2000.
NGC
is conducting a comprehensive Environmental Impact
Assessment (EIA) study for its proposed
24-inch natural gas pipeline from Point Fortin
to the Union Industrial Estate, thence to the La
Brea Industrial Estate and Port of Brighton. A
statement from NGC said it is “keen to seek,
record and address the concerns, comments and expectations
of the citizens” with regard to this proposed
project.
Meanwhile, the National Energy Corporation in
pursuit of its CEC for its proposed upgrade and
expansion of the port and harbour at Brighton,
La Brea will host public consultations on July
20 and 25, 2007.
The consultations will take place at the Brighton
Sports Club, La Brea at 5.30 pm on both days.
