PRESIDENT
OF the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Ian Collier
has slammed the draft Investment Policy
2007-2012 “as a collection of acts with no
perceived common thread.”
He
added that the parts “do not add up to
a long term, holistic whole and the policy appears
unfocused.”
Collier
was one of the stakeholders who spoke on Tuesday
at the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s
consultation on the investment policy green paper
at Crowne Plaza, Port-of-Spain.
Collier
lamented that while Government’s
major objectives are to increase the non-energy
sector contribution to GDP, the oil and gas sector
still garners the most focus.
American
Chamber of Commerce president, Raymond Gatcliffe,
who also criticised the policy, said
while it refers “to a vast network of roads
which connects effectively the major areas of business,
this does not accurately describe TT.”
