PETROPHYSICAL Advisor at bpTT, Bob Terry, has
been appointed president of the Society of petrophysicists
and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA).
Terry has been living and working in Trinidad
for the past three years acting as a petrophysical
advisor for research and development projects,
field studies, operations, and staff training.
He has been working in the oil industry for 31
years, of which ten were spent with Schlumberger
in a series of field engineering, management and
log interpretation positions prior to moving to
Amoco to provide international petrophysical support.
After the merger with BP, he continued to provide
global petrophysical support and has been involved
in projects on every continent except Antartica.
Terry has authored/co-authored numerous papers
for both SPE and SPWLA and has chaired several
topical conferences. He is an active member of
the SPWLA having held also positions of Regional
Director, VP Education, VP Technology.
“I see my role in the Society as an opportunity
to give something of myself back to the industry,” Terry
explains. “My goal is to increase the globalisation
of the Society and the discipline of petrophysics
through increased interaction with universities
across the world.”
