THE
Ministry of Labour and Small and Micro Enterprise
Development stated that an agreement was reached
between the management of the Power Generation
Company and Oilfields Workers’ Trade Union
on a new industrial accord for the period January
1, 2006 to December 31, 2008 for monthly paid workers.
The
agreement stipulates that there is to be a 15
percent increase in salaries. It was also agreed
that a “Cost of Living Allowance of 23 cents
per hour for every point rise in the index of Retail
Prices as at December 31, 2005” would be
realised. According to the release, other increases
in allowances included shift and meal.
This agreement brought an end to months of negotiations
between both parties as well as conciliation proceedings
at the Ministry of Labour and Small and Micro Enterprise
Development which began on April 2, 2007.
The
release also mentioned that the Union’s
team was headed by the President General, Mr Errol
Mc Leod while the Employer’s team was led
by Ms Hyacinth Guy, the Director of Human Resources
and Administration.
