A
LEAK discovered yesterday morning at Petrotrin's San Francique pipelines forced
some residents to move their livestock from the area.
The Express learned from residents that the line,
which carries crude oil from the Exploration and
Production fields to the Pointe-a-Pierre refinery,
developed a leak.
Petrotrin's Corporate Communications Manager Arnold
Corneal said the leak was in a remote area, but
the company advised residents to relocate their
animals from the immediate areas so that clean-up
operations could be carried on.
"The clean-up will take a few days. People
were not affected," he stressed.
Corneal
added that "with crude oil there
is a hydrocarbon smell, but that does not affect
the residents and our field engineers said the
hydrocarbon levels are normal. It is in an area
that needs to be well cleaned but everything is
under control".
