There could be fewer road tank wagons transporting
petroleum products on the road next year.
The drop will be due to the National Gas Company
of Trinidad and Tobago's plan to transport fuel
by pipeline.
Construction of the pipelines, from State-owned
energy company Petrotrin's refinery at Pointe-a-Pierre
to Frederick Settlement, Caroni, is expected to
begin during the start of the third quarter of
next year.
NGC and Kellogg, Brown and Root recently signed
a contract for the design services related to the
construction of a liquefied fuel pipeline.
NGC said in a statement that the contract was
signed by company president, Frank Look Kin, and
Dominick Turpia, Vice President-The Americas, Business
Development of KBR.
The pipeline will be designed to transport 1.6
million gallons or 42,000 barrels a day of refined
distillates from the refinery to Frederick Settlement,
where a new bond and associated tank wagon facilities
will be constructed.
A jet fuel line will also be constructed from
the Caroni facility to Piarco, to serve the needs
of Piarco International Airport, the statement
said.
