The
South Trinidad Chamber of Industry and Commerce (STCIC) and the Geological
Society of Trinidad
and Tobago (GSTT) will hold their annual Trinidad
and Tobago
Petroleum Conference (TTPC 2008) at the Trinidad Hilton on February 25-26.
This
year the TTPC 2008 intends to present the forum
the discussion of the annual theme "The
Future of Energy?"
"The
Future of Energy?" is to
take place framed against the backdrop of industry
information
and rigorous
analysis, given
the importance of the energy sector to the Trinidad
and Tobago economy.
On
attendance will be the leaders
from the Government, the private sector and academia.
TTPC
2008 aims examining issues such:
- Energy security issues in the face of depleting
oil and gas reserves;
- Achieving economic diversification from an energy
platform; and
- Macro-economic management in a hydrocarbon economy;
The STCIC has advocated that the vision for the
post-hydrocarbon future of Trinidad and Tobago
should be as the petrochemical and energy services
hub of the Americas.
In
keeping with this vision of energy services and
petrochemical and metals
the TTPC will explore:
- The role of energy services in sustainable development;
and
- The future of the petrochemical and metals industries.
The
conference will also look at the future of energy
in Upstream, Midstream
and Downstream sub-sectors as well as overviews
on the Trinidad and Tobago energy sector
in the past year and plans for future development.
An also, at the future of energy in the
wider Caribbean area and will include presentations
on developments in exploration in Suriname
and Barbados.
The
speaker panel includes senior Government Ministers
from Trinidad & Tobago
and other regional Governments, senior technocrats,
senior representatives of national and international
energy companies, the financial and commercial
sector and from academia.
The
TTPC is organised by two local Trinidadian not-for-profit
organisations, the South Trinidad
Chamber of Industry and Commerce (STCIC) and the
Geological Society of Trinidad & Tobago (GSTT).
