Ryder
Scott Co. LP, clarified on Thursday in a statement send to Petroleumworld
that the reserves audit conducted by them and finish recently,
found that Trinidad and Tobago's gas production will plateau
in 9 years.
The
risked 3P reserves will be adequate to supply
the demand for gas through 2016 and not like
was previously reported that Trinidad and Tobago
only has 12 years of gas reserves left based
on existing and projected production rates.
Ryder Scott just finish a two years countrywide evaluations of the offshore
gas reserves and resources of Trinidad and Tobago as a petition from the Trinidad
and Tobago Energy Ministry.
In a news conference two weeks ago, Trinidad and Tobago's
Energy minister Dr Lenny Saith said that the Ryder Scott audit
showed was there was an estimated 37 trillion cubic feet (tcf),
identified as gas yet to be explored even though the existing known
reserves had declined.
Senior
energy analyst Stephen Cupid announced at the
same conference that the audit showed based on
a production rate of 4.5 billion cubic feet (bcf)
of gas per day.
Saith
earlier said that the present demand on gas was
3.9 bcf per day and the government had allocated
an additional 0.6 bcf for future projects.
He
also said the total amount of proven, possible
and probable reserves of gas either now being
used or known to be in existence classified as
unrisked reserves had dropped from 34.87 trillion
cubic feet (tcf) as of January 1, 2005 to 31.04
tcf as of January 1, 2007, reported Juhel Browne
from the Trinidad Express.
Trinidad & Tobago
