gas expected by 2010

The
venezuelan company PDVSA plans to star production
of the joint gas field with Trinidad & Tobago
by 2010, PDVSA Director and PDVSA CVP president
Eulogio Del Pino told Petroleumworld on Wednesday.
" In
the Deltana Block 2 field, we expect begin gas
production by 2010, after start production
of the Mariscal Sucre hydrocarbons fields at the
end of 2009"
Mariscal Sucre hydrocarbons fields are located
at Paria's northern fields, on the Northeast coast
of Venezuela, near the maritime boundary with Trinidad.
Venezuela is counting in the development of the
oil and gas fields in the country's Platform Deltana
petroleum fields that are located off the country's
east coast along the border with Trinidad and Tobago
and covers 32,000km2 in water depths ranging from
80m to 1000m and holds estimated reserves in the
range of 38tcf, with 7.6tcf proven, probable and
possible.
U.S. giant oil company Chevron holds the licenses
to Block 2 ( Loran field) in the Venezuela's side
of the reservoir and Block 6d, on Trinidad's side
( the Manatee field) were it has located 7 tcf
of proven gas reserves
Chevron operates the well of the Trinidad side
on behalf of its partnership with BG Group, and
each holds a 50 percent interest in the block,
while in the Venezuelan side, Chevron had originally
100% of the block, but negotiations are being conducted
that will allow PDVSA to hold a majority interest
in the block with Chevron as a minority partner
and the operator.
The two nations are just short of signing the
final maritime boundary hydrocarbon unitization
treaty on the Loran - Manatee fields over the maritime
boundary that would allow the development of the
fields, it is expected to have the final agreement
finish soon.
Also, Norway's StatoilHydro, holds the licenses
to block 4 (Cocuina field), were it has reported
petroleum findings and is presenting its development
plans for review to the venezuelan authorities.
An hydrocarbon unitization agreement will have
to be negotiated with Trinidad before production
starts.
